Mini-Camp Featuring Erik Sullivan

This summer, Thunder Volleyball Texas is hosting a Mini-Camp featuring Erik Sullivan, assistant coach of the Nebraska Huskers.

Mini-Camp with Erik Sullivan is Sunday, July 11, 2010 at The Gym, 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM. Registration is $75 per person

Erik Sullivan is in his second season at Nebraska after joining the Husker staff on Feb. 14, 2008. In his role, Sullivan handles player training and works with the middle blockers while serving as recruiting co-coordinator. He also handles opponent scouting and game preparation and oversees Nebraska's summer camp program.

Sullivan's stint at Nebraska marks his second stop in the Big 12, as he served as an assistant coach at Colorado for four seasons before joining the Husker staff. He said his extensive playing background with the national team and professionally has helped shape his coaching philosophies.

"The thing I learned playing around the world is that you can win in different ways," Sullivan said. "There is not one model or style that leads to success. Many of the players at Nebraska have aspirations of playing either professionally or at the national team level, and I can help in their preparation and with the demands of continuing a volleyball career following college."

A two-time U.S. Olympian, Sullivan made a quick impact on the Husker program in his first season. Kori Cooper earned first-team All-Big 12 and honorable-mention AVCA All-America accolades after ranking 10th nationally with a .396 hitting percentage. Amanda Gates also earned conference recognition, earning honorable-mention All-Big 12 honors after ranking among the Big 12 leaders in both blocks and hitting percentage. Both players showed their dedication off the court, earning first-team CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, as the pair were two of only six players honored from around the nation as first-team selections.

Registration forms will be online soon.
